
William Sawaya
Lebanese-French designer
William Sawaya was born in Beirut in 1948. In 1973, he graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts of Beirut. Sawaya studied in Paris and Milan, where he gained experience in the field of furniture design, which he considers an important part of a coherent project in living culture. In 1978, he moved to Italy and established the Sawaya & Moroni architecture and design office with Paolo Moroni. In 1984, they founded the Sawaya & Moroni contemporary furniture company. read more
Occasionally, Sawaya also designs for other companies, such as Swissair, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, and Heller. His professional activity extends to France, Italy, Greece, Japan, and the USA, and his work has been published in design and architectural books and magazines. Moreover, his work is present in various museums as well as in many public and private collections.
